A Georgian trick snuff box.
The front is engraved with a garter and the name T Clapp Dec 1865.
The reverse is engraved with the name J Clapp in an earlier Georgian style of lettering and decoration round.
Possibly given as a gift from father to son at Christmas.
The top slides forward and then lifts up to open.
The mechanism is in excellent order.
The colour and feel of the metal may indicate it is made out of Paktong.
Overall it is in excellent condition with wear commensurate with the age of the item.
