Rare racing memorabilia.
This crocodile and silver notebook and pencil is engraved with ISONOMY 1880.
Isonomy was a British thoroughbred horse which ran 14 times 1877-80.
Its owner was Frederick Gretton a member of the Bass brewing family. Initially he worked in the family business but soon left to devote his time to horse racing. He was a colourful character. His notice of death in The Times recorded him as one of the most prominent owner of race horses on the turf 1891.
The notebook is London 1879 by Henry William Dee.

The silver and crocodile is in excellent condition as is the vivid blue silk lining. The notebook is in used condition as one would expect. Silver pencil in a holder on the side.
