A superb travelling desk set, comprising lockdown inkwell, Vesta/go to bed, Wafer box, Penwipe.
All the tops are in silver gilt and bear the family crest and motto for Baron Redesdale, paternal grandfather of the Mitford sisters.
Each one is marked the maker of each piece is Frances Douglas, London 3 items are dated 1874 and the penwipe is London 1836.
Original leather box obviously specially made for the items.
The bases are glass, 3 have star cut bases the inkwell has a plain base.
Each one 4 cm x 4 cm 3 cm high
The item is in excellent condition, there is a very minor and I mean minor chip to one corner of the go to bed.
So interesting to be able to trace it to the original family.
