Item Details
A rare double duty Georgian silver caddy spoon Sheffield 1797 Nathaniel Smith & Co. The double duty mark was used from 15th July 1797 to end of August 1798. The double duty mark was brought in to help pay for the Napoleonic wars. As a result of this the silver in this spoon is much less making it light weight and thin, so an impression of the markings can be see on the inside of the bowl as well. There is evidence of repair again probably due to the thinness of the silver.
